The United States launched a military strike which targeted a Syrian army airfield it was told a response to the chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians days back in Syrian city Idlib.
On President Donald Trump’s orders, US Navy warships launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles targeting a Syrian government airbase where the warplanes that carried out the chemical attacks were based, US officials said.
A statement on Syrian state TV said “American aggression” had targeted a Syrian military base with “a number of missiles”.
6 people were killed in the airstrike, according to local media, said by the Syrian Armed Forces General Command.
Last week chemical attacks were done in Idlib, which were managed by Syrian army, over the orders of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, it was a massive brutal killing of several civilians, along kids, later Trump said that something must happen to Syria, after these terrible chemical attacks, yesterday U.S president said these chemical attacks overall changed the view of Assad the Syrian President, and the Syrian State as well.
At Mar-a-Lago, U.S President Trump gave orders of this missile strike over Syria, and hours later he explained media saying “Tonight, I ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched,” he added, “It is in this vital national security of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.”
Trump said: “There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention and ignored the urging of the UN Security Council. Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behavior have all failed and failed very dramatically.”
