ST. PIERRE CATHEDRAL
The impressive cathedral took seventy years to complete. It was completed in 1230, while the work started to built this cathedral in 1160. It combines different architectural styles. The most important and basic is Gothic with some romantic and neoclassical elements, which conveys a sense of rigor interrupted by little details like the impressive stained glass. Follow the steps leading to the top of the bell tower to enjoy the views of the city and the Alps.
Maison Tavel is the oldest house in Geneva, with the Gothic façade features. It is a six floors medieval house. This oldest house was built in 12 century. Stone carvings depicting human and animal heads over the walls. Now it has become a place to host a museum, devoted to daily life in the period between 16th and 19th century.
PLACE DU BOURG-DE-FOUR
It is the center to the Old Town Square with its popular cafes, restaurants, galleries and antique shops, which depict the design and beauty to remind the central market in medieval period. Adjacent to Town Square, the whole place is surrounded including the imposing Palace of Justice and the Hotel de Ville with Renaissance facade, an old town hall, which has now become headquarters of the authorities of the canton.
PALAIS DES NATIONS
The European UN headquarters is located in this building which was built between 1929 and 1936 and boasts the largest worldwide conference room.
