Syria war: ‘Israeli strike’ hits military area near Damascus airport


An Israeli missile strike has caused a large explosion and fire at a military site near Damascus international airport, Syrian state media report.

Syrian news agency Sana said this strike mainly damaged the fuel tank and the warehouse at the military compound. Meanwhile the anti government Syrian rebels stated that the Israeli strike destroyed the Hizb Ullah artillery compounds in this military compound.

Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz stated, “I can confirm that the incident in Syria corresponds completely with Israel’s policy to act to prevent Iran’s smuggling of advanced weapons via Syria to Hezbollah in Iran. Naturally, I don’t want to elaborate on this.”

“The prime minister has said that whenever we receive intelligence that indicated an intention to transfer advanced weapons to Hezbollah, we will act.”

Talking to the Israeli radio he added, Israel refused the responsibility of this strike and said that it is having a right to attack where it is required.

Syrian observatory a human rights organisation in Britain revealed that near the Damascus airport a massive blast happened. Organisation leader Rami Abdul Rahman said, that this was much intense explosion, which shaked the whole area and heard in whole Damascus.

The targeted area of this strike caught fire after this missile strike, meanwhile details of the loss in this attack is not yet clear.

Lebanon Shia Muslim militants group Hizbullah’s channel the Minar TV claimed this strike was managed by Israeli army. It added no life loss is reported till yet in this strike.
