Protests across the country against the US missile system Thaad install in South Korea

The US “Thaad” system is designed to protect against threats from North Korean nuclear missile launches. US military has started the install of missile defence system in South Korea. Against this missile defence system install hundreds of South Koreans are protesting all over the country.

This anti North Korean missile system Thaad will be completely installed for operating till next year. South Korean media footage showing the travel of this defensive missile system towards 250 Km South from the capital city Seoul.

Massive protests against this install in South Korea turned violent at some points, clash of these protesters with police were reported. Social workers in South Korea told at least 10 people got injured in such protests.

China insisted that the install of Thaad in South korea will definitely destabilize peace of this region. As the US has already deployed the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, and submarine a massive strike group in Korean Peninsula, which it justifies for the North Korean nuclear testings.

Thaad is all the way capable for targeting a fired ballistic missile moments before its strike in the air, this defence system could destroy any type technology handling warheads, this system works in a radius of 200 Km from its install, and around an upward range of 150 Km.

South Korean defence ministry revealed that US and their country are both working over the security of Thread’s initial operational capability. “South Korea and the United States have been working to secure an early operational capability of the Thaad system in response to North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile threat,” South Korea’s defence ministry said in a statement.

“We will continue our fight and there’s still time for Thaad to be actually up and running so we will fight until equipment is withdrawn from the site and ask South Korea’s new government to reconsider the plan,” protester Kim Jong-kyung said.
