Oscar gaffe: Wrong movie announced for Best Film award

The 89th Oscar Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles and the highlight was Faye Dunaway mistake of announcing ‘La La Land’ as the winner of best film award instead of the actual winner ‘Moonlight’, however, the mistake was later corrected.

The team of La La Land arrived at the stage and was in the middle of its acceptance speech when they were informed about the mistake, it created a lot of confusion.

Faye Dunaway’s co-award presenter Warren Beatty was handed the wrong envelope which contained the card for Emma Stone, La La Land. Emma Stone said that it was the most craziest moment of the Oscars and it will become part of history.

Berry Jenkins, the director of Moonlight said that his life has been changed dramatically in the last 20 to 30 minutes. Moonlight is about an African-American gay man and has also won the award for best adapted screenplay and best supporting actor.

The award of best actor has won by Casey Affleck for his role in ‘Manchester by the sea’ whereas best actress award has gone to Emma Stone for her role in La La Land.

It was being hoped that with 14 nominations La La Land will win a lot of awards but it could only bag six oscars, Moonlight and Hacksaw Ridge both received three oscars each.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event and he started off by saying that he is sure someone here today will made a speech which will force the US president to go in the bathroom early in the morning to tweet about it.
