One Killed and 3 Injured after Meteorite Shower in Indian College


Tamil Nadu: One person were killed and three other injured after a meteorite strike in north Indian college.

According to the local media driver of local college in north Indian state of Tamil Nadu killed, 2 gardeners and 1 student were also killed after an almost 11 Kilograms of meteorite strikes in the parking area of college.

The explosion is so powerful that it is  heard from 3 Kilometers almost 2 miles and broke the glasses of windows, cars and all other fragile equipment in the college.

According to an eyewitness a black rock found the in the blast scene just after the explosion. Police is investigating about all possibilities of explosion. There is no traces of tnt or any type of explosive remains in in the blast scene. After the post mortem report of victim who killed in the blast it is clear that he is died from the explosion.

In 2013 heavy meteorite shower speeding 60,000 to 70,000 kilometers per hour with an estimated initial mass of about 12,000–13,000 metric tonnes injured almost 100 people because of flying glasses. Thousands of buildings also damaged in the result of meteorite showers commonly known as Chelyabinsk meteor.


An individual’s chance of being killed by a meteorite is small, but the risk increases with the size of the impacting comet or asteroid, NASA describe the issue of meteore killing and mortality rate regarding this incident. Every year an automobile-sized asteroid hits Earth’s atmosphere, creates an impressive fireball, and burns up before reaching the surface NASA added about the behaviour of meteor falling.

Every 2000 years a big football ground sized strike earth as there are many traces went off as most of the meteor hit oceans. Chances of hitting a large size meteor is very very low almost one in a billion strikes.
