Larkana/Sindh/Pakistan: Two explosions near a rangers vehicle killed one ranger and injured 7 others including 3 rangers.
According to local media outlets a rangers mobile vehicle came out of the headquarters for it usual patrol, as soon as it got to Miro Khan Chowk a bomb placed on a bicycle was detonated.
There was another cracker explosion later and reports of firing were also made.
Three rangers officers were injured as a result namely Shahid Sayal, Rashid Hussain and Ghulam Nabi. The injured officers were transferred to Chandka hospital where one of them died of his injuries and another officer went into a coma.
The police has barricaded the area and have started a search operation, more than 10 people have been taken into custody.
According to ranger officials the vehicle also suffered severe damages from the explosion.
Interior minister Ch. Nisar Ahmed has took notice of the incident and have strongly condemned the attack of rangers, he has asked for the complete report on this matter.
The chief minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has also asked to the Inspector General of Sindh to give him a complete report in 24 hours.
This is the second fatal attack on rangers in past two years, the first attack of this kind happened on Friday, March 20, 2015 in Nazimabad, Karachi which resulted in the death of two rangers officers.
A rangers mobile patrol vehicle was attacked with a powerful explosion which also destroyed motorcycles and cars parked near the vehicle. The explosion killed two rangers and a woman who was passing by.
Rangers have come under criticism from the two major political parties of Sindh i.e MQM and Pakistan Peoples Party. Currently there is a tussle going on between rangers and Sindh government to expand the authority of ranges in the entire province rather than just Karachi.
