General Motors have released the production model of Chevy Bolt at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday, Chevy Bolt is an all-electric car which was previously just a concept car.
Chevy Bolt is General Motors followup to their celebrated Chevy Volt and it is designed to be a long range all-electric vehicle. The concept of Chevy Bolt was created in January 2015 and the its production is set to start by the end of 2017.
The Chevy Bolt has already won three distinct honors, in November it won the award for the “Green Car of the year” and “Motor Trend Car of the year” at the Las Vegas Auto Show.
According to General Motors, Chevy Bolt is capable of traveling 238 miles on a single charge, it is priced at $30,000 making it extremely cheaper than all other cars with the ability to travel more than 200 miles on a single charge like the Model X and Model S by Tesla, Genesis G90 by Hyundai and S90 by Volvo.
The Chevy Bolt 2017 comes with all the latest gadgets and mobile apps, Mary Barra said in a statement that it will come with a mobile app which will allow advanced GPS routing and car sharing.
The company has also said that this app would also predict the driving range for the driver depending on their driving habits, weather and the terrain on which the car will drive.
Unlike the previous model Bolt will not feature a regular petrol engine to provide extra mileage, the Chevy Volt only has an average of the 53 miles on a charge but it does have a petrol engine.
Tesla is working on the Model 3 which will be a much cheaper model and will arrive sometime in 2017 in the markets. Although Chevy has beaten all other electric cars on price point but Tesla welcomed the Bolt on Wednesday.
In a statement released by Tesla, the company said: “Commitments from traditional car makers to build electric vehicles advance Tesla’s mission to accelerate the advent of sustainable transportation. We hope to see all those additional zero-emission vehicles on the road.”
