Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says ‘Trump is showing real face of America’

Tehran: The Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that US president Donald Trump is showing the real face of America, he was giving his first speech after the inauguration of Donald Trump.

Ali Khamenei was meeting with military commanders in Tehran on Tuesday, according to his website he said: “We are thankful to the new president for making our life easy as he showed the real face of America.

“During his election campaign and after that, he confirmed what we have been saying for more than 30 years about the political, economic, moral and social corruption in the U.S. ruling system.”

He further said: “What we have been saying, for over thirty years, about political, economic, moral, and social corruption within the US ruling establishment, he came out and exposed during the election campaigns and after the elections.

“Now, with everything he is doing – handcuffing a child as young as five at an airport – he is showing the reality of American human rights.”

The recent rise in tension began with US president’s travel ban on seven Muslim majority countries including Iran, as a response Iran also banned US citizens from travelling to Iran. As a further sign of defiance Iran launched a ballistic missile test which prompted the Trump administration to hit Iran with more sanctions.

President Trump was against the US-Iran nuclear deal from the beginning and has voiced his opposition during his campaign. After the missile test he tweeted: “Iran is playing with fire. They don’t appreciate how kind president Obama was to them. Not me!”

Trump administration has put most of the sanctions back on Iran which were lifted by the Obama administration in exchange of Iran limiting its nuclear program.

Iran’s support of the Houthi rebels in Yemen is also a matter of concern for the US administration which has issued many ambiguous warnings about a potential dispute with Iran on this matter. Iran is also a huge supporter of the Syrian government and it has thousand of soldiers to help the Syrian army defeat the rebels.
